You always remember your first love. Don’t you…?
’I loved it! So funny and warm. A delicious read’ Marian Keyes
’Hilarious, warm and life affirming’ Jenny Colgan
It began with four words.
‘I love your laugh. x’
But that was twelve years ago. It really began the day Georgina was fired from The Worst Restaurant in Sheffield (© Tripadvisor) and found The Worst Boyfriend in the World (© Georgina’s best friends) in bed with someone else.
So when her new boss, Lucas McCarthy, turns out to be the boy who wrote those words to her all that time ago, it feels like the start of something.
The only problem? He doesn’t seem to remember Georgina – at all…
This irresistible new book from Mhairi McFarlane is the perfect story to escape with. Compulsively readable, absolutely hilarious and deliciously romantic, you will not be able to put it down.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Mhairi McFarlane has the rare ability to lace a side-splittingly funny rom-com with serious themes like toxic relationships, abuse and family dysfunction—without detracting from either side of that spectrum. When Georgina is fired from her (terrible) job and discovers her boyfriend in bed with another woman, she thinks it couldn’t get any worse. She’s wrong. We loved this warm, witty and clever read, and the bittersweet final scenes in particular had us laughing, crying and swooning in turn.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
McFarlane (Who's That Girl?) strikes romantic comedy gold with this tale of reunited sweethearts who have to grapple with the past. During their last term of high school, popular Georgina Horspool and loner Lucas McCarthy fell in love. They planned to become each other's first lover after the end-of-year party but a traumatic event derailed that plan. Twelve years later, Georgina's life is in a downward spiral. After being publicly fired from a dead-end waitressing job, catching her comedian boyfriend in bed with his assistant, and dealing with her critical family, she gets a job working for Lucas, who shows no signs of recognizing her. This is no standard lost-love-reunited tale; McFarlane builds it into a powerful exploration of grief and the way incomplete information can shape a narrative. As Georgina's background is carefully revealed, readers will continually revise their ideas of who she is and gain a better understanding of her closest relationships, especially with her father and with Lucas. As a result, the ending, while not unexpected, is deeply satisfying on several levels, and Lucas's final romantic speech is one for the ages. McFarlane strikes a beautiful balance of tenderness, wry humor, and deep emotion.

Don’t Forget About Me
Really enjoyed it, funny and entertaining.
Ok
The writing style was hard to read , and there were too many local sayings and terminology I didn't understand. Halfway through it got a lot better, lots of funny bits, and by the end I was teary eyed lol
So all up, a good waste of half a day reading
Disappointing, style of writing hard to read
I read You Had Me At Hello by this author years ago and it was well written and completely captivating. This current book has disappointed me. The only enjoyable part is the very first Chapter, ‘Then’. That first chapter is captivating and completely draws the reader in. But after that, the writing all goes downhill from there. It seems Mhaire generally covers scenes in minute detail, and her story goes on all sorts of tangents. Meanwhile, the reader waits in anticipation for the author to bring back the story to the main plot. This happens at such a slow pace, such that she loses the reader altogether. Also, the author seems to use a great deal of what I take to be British lingo which makes this book an extremely frustrating read. Awfully disappointed.
