End of Summer

Fifteen year old Rachel’s childhood friendships have begun to unravel around her, and in one weak moment when she is at her loneliest, she confides in her teacher. Her decision becomes a ticking time bomb when new kid Aaron arrives at school and sets his sights on her. Attending high school in 1990s New Zealand, Rachel, Ange, Dani and Mary are all taking risks and testing boundaries in their attempts to be heard and feel loved. They’ll be slowly torn apart as the Summer draws to a close, and only tragedy can bring them back together.
End of Summer is a gritty coming-of-age account of four teenagers struggling to navigate the relationships they have with friends, boys, and the adults calling the shots. It examines the co-existing roles of parents as punisher and rescuer, and the long-lasting repercussions of violence and abuse. The often painful lessons this group of friends must learn as teenagers will haunt them long into adulthood.
