Flight Into Sanity

A true account of the author's journey through mental illness and alcoholism brought one through an abusive upbringing that included her loss of a parent at an early age, physical, mental and sexual abuse at the hands of relatives, and her own encounters with mental illness within the family. 


This highly detailed narrative takes the reader on this journey, through decades of dealing with the effects of the abuse, but ultimately seeking survival, recovery, reconciliation, and eventual triumph. The author discovers that human beings have the ability to heal from unbelievable pain and suffering. However, this healing does not come easy. There is much hard work, possibly additional pain and suffering, and the re-experiencing of events. This healing cannot be achieved in a vacuum. The author describes how she reached out for help and was able to get that through people that she trusted. Today, the author is able to reflect back on her experiences and share her story with others in the hope that her experiences will shine a light on a path to healing and recovery.
