For Karen Hunter, her children are a double-edged sword of pain and pride. She's always tried to guide her girls through life's pitfalls, but how do you protect your children when they're adults?

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Fiona Lowe has proved herself a highly accomplished writer of addictive thrillers with novels including A Home Like Ours and Birthright. Here, she crafts an absorbing tale of four women bound by blood and deep friendship—but suddenly forced to negotiate grievous betrayal. It’s a story bolstered by the depth with which Lowe draws her characters. Alice, returning back to the family home in the idyllic-but-claustrophobic seaside town is a complete picture of simmering sibling jealousy. Libby, the sibling in question, seemingly has it all—including Jess, an adoring best friend, and a close relationship to Karen, the girls’ mother who’s harbouring haunting secrets.
