Las Esferas

Las Esferas is an attempt to explain the phenomenon of hundreds of heavy stone spheres that have been found scattered about southern Costa Rica. They appear to be pre-Columbian because they were found at certain archaeological sites dating to that era but there is the possibility they were formed much ealier. No satisfactory explanation has yet to be given as to their true origin, the heretofore impossible precision to which they were constructed or how these very heavy stone rocks were moved around the countryside long before the Amerindians here had a wagon, a wheel or a horse. The mystery surrounding them has given rise to many explanations including the possibility that the spheres were the work of extraterrestrials. What ever their origin they remain a mystery to this day.
