In his essay collection, «Les Petits Histories», Ricks explores French language and culture through a bumbling busman’s holiday. From «le musac» to «les museés», Ricks details Bordeaux, it’s people and his own follies and foibles; all through a rose tinted world view, pessimistic outlook, world-weary eyes, series of brown beaten opinions, hunched over shoulders, grumpy disposition, pigeon toed walk and the depressing realisation that his poorly accented A Level French is not as good as he remembers.
