Natural Selection

Brought together here in one volume are two seminal books expressing ideas that completely changed the world.  


On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin was published in 1859 into an inferno of controversy.  In his masterpiece, Darwin cogently explains the tenets of evolutionary theory; natural selection, adaptation, inheritance, the struggle for existence, and the survival of the fittest.


All of these ideas are further expounded upon by the Alfred Russel Wallace in his "Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection".  Wallace had been independently working on his own version of evolutionary theory when Darwin first published "On the Origin of Species".  For decades overshadowed by Darwin, Wallace's contributions have come to be recognised for thier won independent merit.
