With nowhere to go, I found myself at the mercy of one of the locals who offered me a place to stay. Knowing I wouldn't survive the storm sleeping in my car, I accepted his help, even if it meant sharing a bed with a man I didn't know. 

Trusting anyone was hard, but there was something about Axel that made me want to let my guard down. He promised to protect my daughter and me, but that didn't ease the constant worry that the men who were after me would find us. 

If I wanted to keep my daughter and me safe, I had to do what was right. Even if that meant walking away from the only man who had ever made me feel safe and loved.
