The captivating second novel from the critically acclaimed author of Ghostwritten and Cloud Atlas

As Eiji Miyake's twentieth birthday nears, he arrives in Tokyo with a mission - to locate the father he has never met. So begins a search that takes him into the seething city's underworld, its lost property offices and video arcades, and on a journey that zigzags from reality to the realm of dreams. But until Eiji has fallen in love and exorcised his childhood demons, the belonging he craves will remain, tantalizingly, just beyond his grasp.

I feel as though I've been cheated!

Don't get me wrong, David Mitchell's style is pleasantly unique and up till the last few pages I enjoyed this story immensely, but it then seemed to lose momentum and didn't seem to actually end at all, as though the author lost interest in his character's destiny and put down his pen (or in this age, turned off his computer). Disappointing. If not for this the rating would have been four stars. That said, I can highly recommend Cloud Atlas & Ghost Written. They are both excellent examples of the calibre and cultural scope one can expect from David Mitchell.
