On Horseback

This is a little travel book from the 1880's. The author rides through the mountains of North Carolina providing helpful tips that I found amusing and an insight into the times, for example, choosing a walking horse, lodging at cabins without dirt floors, eating at a farmhouse that had an egg. When the author lost his wallet on the trail he observes that it was "crocodile, probably imitation"
