Pigeon's Perfect Plan

Pigeon LOVES to plan. She wakes up on time, flaps her wings three times and walks along the fence. Every day is the same.

Pigeon’s plans make her feel happy and safe. But one morning a big gust of wind blows Pigeon off her fence and she tumbles into a bin! All her careful plans unravel, messing with her routine. Pigeon begins to wonder: if things don’t go to plan, is it because she made a bad choice or do things simply just happen sometimes?

This warm and funny picture book, from bestselling author-illustrator Philip Bunting, is a gentle exploration of resilience as the story examines how not everything is within our control. With playful repetition and expressive illustrations, children will laugh at Pigeon’s mishaps while recognising the familiar frustration when plans go wrong.

Perfect for shared reading, Pigeon’s Perfect Plan encourages young readers to explore what it feels like when plans go awry and how to respond to change calmly and creatively. The story reassures children that while they can’t control everything, they can decide what to do next. This heart-warming book finishes with a light introduction to the philosophy behind the story, with historical facts and background information that unpacks the big idea in a child-friendly and practical way.

Pigeon’s Perfect Plan is part of a collectible series of picture books, featuring story-led introductions to philosophy for children. Starring a cast of curious creatures, each tale gently opens a new window to wonder, helping little minds stretch towards big ideas.
