Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter was an American novelist, she mainly wrote children's literature, adventure stories and romance fiction. She's well known for her Pollyanna novel, for which she achieved considerable commercial success: during 1913, it ranked eighth among bestselling novels in the United States. Eleanor Porter became a remarkable woman of history, and achieved a rare distinction internationally in the 20th century as an American novelist.
