Publisher Description

Runaway Home is Young Adult Fiction about Bill Moore, the oldest son in an alcoholic family.  He spent the school year, 1977 - 1978,  living in a Youth Home in Niagara Falls, NY.  This story is also, unwittingly, a fictional account of the events of the tragedy known as Love Canal.  Love Canal was the first environmental disaster site to receive government funds through the Environmental Protection Act.  Love Canal was the first Superfunds site.  This story grew out of my work as the Program Director for Youth Homes.  The unfolding drama of Love Canal was the backdrop for the up-front story about life in a youth home in the 1970's.
