SHE by Jen Gibbs
SHE skilfully explores the lives of well-known women in the Bible, providing rich detail and background of these notable women bringing them right up to date as we understand them as being “normal” women just like us. Alongside these amazing women, there are illustrations from the author’s own experiences, intertwined with classics such as Dante, CS Lewis, Kierkgaard, Boethius and others. This book tackles hard issues without compromise, illustrated by snippets from the author’s own journey. She says” “There is something in us that wants a formula to apply to circumstance so that we get a predictable outcome.” And: “The maze of questions and answers and further questions we embark upon doesn’t scare God. In fact, we need to ask questions, because in answering them, we come to know another sliver of an omnipotent God.” The author then sets about to answer some tough issues by looking at wonderful examples of women as portrayed in the Bible. This book leaves you enriched beyond measure, encouraged by God’s beautiful heart for women, empowered to carry on with confidence assured that God loves you absolutely. SHE is inspiring, uplifting, encouraging and easy-to-read.
A fabulous women's bible study.
I read this book with a group of girls from church. Was so good! It's gives you such a great biblical picture of the esteem God has for his girls and just what you can achieve for God when you understand the depth of his love for you. My favourite part is the section on Hope. Completely transformed the way I thought about God and what an anchor Hope truly is when your going through the tough parts of life. Throughly recommend reading this book... There are nuggets of gold littered throughout!
