Having a Bariatric procedure is a huge decision. It involves life-long behavior changes, dietary modifications and most of all commitment. The choice affects not only the person having the procedure, but the entire family unit.

While working in a Bariatric clinic, I was shocked to find out how many children were traumatized by their parent's decision to have a weight loss procedure! It wasn't until I had a procedure myself and experienced the "child meltdown" with my own daughter that I realized that I had to create something to help people like us.

This book is a Bariatric 101 for kids. It's simple enough for a 4 year to understand yet written to still engage a 12 year olds attention. It will give them the basic information about obesity and it's effects on the body. The book goes over the most popular weight loss procedures, the hospital experience and what to expect after surgery.

Education is the key to decrease the anxiety that our kids feel when being confronted with the unknown. This book is the only one of it's kind out there. It will instill comfort in your child and help them to understand that your decision to have surgery is to get healthy. Your decision to have surgery is so that you will be there for them.
