Publisher Description
In this sparkling romantic comedy, a young journalist tampers with her magazine's horoscopes to win her friend's heart - and sets in motion an unpredictable and often hilarious ripple effect . . .
When Justine Carmichael (Sagittarius, aspiring journalist and sceptic) bumps into her old friend Nick Jordan (Aquarius, struggling actor and true believer) it could be by chance. Or it could be written in the stars.
Justine works at the Alexandria Park Star - and Nick, she now learns, relies on the magazine’s astrology column to guide him in life.
Looking for a way to get Nick’s attention, Justine has the idea of making a few small alterations to ‘Aquarius’ before it goes to print.
It's only a horoscope, after all. What harm could it possibly do?

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
We love this sweet and unusual love story…even if it is a little sneaky. When aspiring journalist Justine bumps into her childhood sweetheart, Nick—an actor and astrology devotee—she devises a plan to win his heart: tweaking his monthly horoscope in her favour. What could possibly go wrong? What makes Minnie Darke’s feel-good novel particularly interesting is the rich array of diverse characters that she cleverly weaves in around the main storyline, all of whom are affected by Justine’s horoscopes. There’s a comforting, deeply Australian feel to Star-Crossed.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Darke's winning debut follows a horoscope writer's devious yet delightful plan to snag a boyfriend. Justine Carmichael has worked her way up at the Alexandria Park Star, an Australian magazine, and has recently been promoted to contributions manager. When she crosses paths with childhood sweetheart Nick Jordan, now a handsome actor and ardent astrology believer, she learns he reads the Star's weekly horoscope and hatches a scheme: she begins surreptitiously rewriting the horoscopes, into which she sprinkles subtle hints that Nick should ask her out. Unfortunately, Nick's interpretation of the messages leads him to start dating a model. Justine, meanwhile, learns that a lot of the magazine's readers make important life decisions based on her faux horoscopes, and she begins to wonder: Is everything "lucky, random chaos" or is there something more? Unpretentious, well-drawn characters and the fresh twist on the childhood sweethearts reunited setup make this perfect for fans of romantic comedies.
