Tasting Salt

Publisher Description

Tasting Salt fills a void in Christian Fiction. Never has the Charismatic, Full Gospel, Pentecostal movement and its people been represented in literature or any other entertainment realm. Although the movement involves millions of people in the United States, for whatever reason, we have not elbowed or shoved our way in.

Traditional Christian publishers have refused to publish works from authors containing the beliefs commonly found amongst the Full Gospel people as revealed in many writers’ guidelines. Online publishing has changed the rules. We no longer need acceptance of traditional Christian publishers for our voices to be heard.

Our people can be as colorful, warm and exciting to read about. Our situations can be just as riveting and entertaining as the non-charismatics. Tasting Salt demonstrates this. It is the first book of The Salt Series.

The story is centered on different families who belong to the Good Life Church. It is a growing, non-denominational church in a medium sized city, located in Oklahoma. These families’ lives encounter real life problems and work through them using Biblical principles.

The characters are all unique and most people, I believe will be able to identify similar persons in their own lives. The conversations between the characters are the ones behind your own walls and behind the walls of your friends and your pastors. The reader will laugh and cry with them.

The stories are nothing outrageous or fantastical. They are familiar because the stories are products of this age.

A single parent and her teen aged son struggle through poverty and begin to learn that Jesus already provided a better way for them. The son’s salvation changes the direction of both of their lives.

Another family experiences repercussions from a father’s past sin. The family works together to bring about a solution that brings them all closer together and closer to God.

The Good Life Church is a steadily growing church. The only pastoral staff currently is Pastor David Shelton and his wife. They struggle to operate the church efficiently and at the same time are outgrowing their own home which is the small church parsonage.

A fallen church board member creates problems for a local ministry. That situation turns into a crisis that brings about restoration.

A single business man realizes that life isn’t all work. He trusts God to show him how to have relationships that will bring joy into his life.

Other characters are initially developed that will have bigger roles in the next book.

Most importantly, the characters of Tasting Salt apply the Biblical principles that are required to successfully conquer their problems. It is easy to understand the principles and application of them, because of the scripture references and portions of sermons provided in the story line.

The Salt Series, should, from this point forward, change the expectations of all Christian Fiction.
