Ring, a ring of roses
The author references the American understanding of the rhyme. 'Ashes, ashes. We all fall down'. It should read 'Attishoo, Attishoo' as reference to sneezing. Black Death had initial flu like symptoms. Might pay to go back and have another look at the simple little nursery rhyme
