A young man from the American Midwest becomes the sole human in North America. Armed with an arsenal, luxury cars, and the silence of empty highways, he drives from New York to the Grand Canyon. But his real quest begins when he hears a woman's voice on satellite radio – from England. Desperate to cross the Atlantic, he teaches himself to sail, crashes, nearly dies, and finally sets up a beacon for a future meeting.
