The Distaff Side
Publisher Description
A very prosaic account of our somewhat Victorian childhood which lasted from late Victorian to the World War I period. In this account you read how your great grandparents with labor and persistence hewed a home for themselves in the middle west, raised and educated their children. All four lived to a good old age. They were the unsung heroes, the unimportant people who helped to settle this part of the country, but who, I doubt, would have had the capacity or education to cope with our complex urban, scientific problems of today. They were simple, direct and independent, honest and--religious.
