The novel tells about prince Lev Myshkin who returns to Russia after spending several years at a Swiss sanatorium and scorns by the upper-class society of St. Petersburg for his naivety. He finds himself at the center of a struggle between a beautiful woman and a young girl. Myshkin's goodness precipitates disaster, he goes mad and returns to the sanatorium. 


The Idiot is one of the most brilliant novels of Russian literature and one of the best philosophical novels of the whole world literature, so it's absolutely must-read for every educated person.
