Prendick, shipwrecked in the Pacific Ocean, is rescued by Doctor Moreau's assistant, Montgomery. He is taken to the doctor's island, where he learns that the doctor has been carrying on gruesome experiments on animals. Witnessing and experiencing many horrors on the island, Prendick, with much struggle, eventually manages to escape to England.
