Author's NoteThis novel was originally written in 1991 and I have altered relatively little in the story as it is told here.Many of the scenarios have come to a Middle Eastern Caliphate,the massive flight of refugees towards Europe, the rise of right wing political parties, encroaching Islam - where for example the population of the Parisiansuburb St Saint Denis is forty five percent Muslim, the spread of the retreat of the UK from the EU and the threat of disintegration of both.This was not by some miraculous foresight, but rather by the simple reading of events at that time and their broad extrapolation.The politicians of Europe and the USA are largely to blame for the situation that exists in the Middle East today and the pathsthat lay ahead for France the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe are fraught with danger.
