Trap the Leprechaun (aka Trap the Elf®) considers what the good luck leprechaun elf might look and act like; where one might find them and how to build a trap—anytime of the year. It also tells a tale of what happens should you be so lucky to trap one!


Susan Oppelt, an artist, was inspired by a childhood memory of a leprechaun elf, as well as engaging children 4-8 through the story, art, and a physical experience that they could create themselves. 


The story written as a rhyme and light interactive elements engage children’s imagination instantly. Tap to see hidden imagery, hear atmospheric audio or play a couple of simple stop motion videos as the story unfolds. Then take the story offline, following the included official Trap the Leprechaun schematics in a DIY activity sure to please creative, imaginative minds anytime of the year.


The art is a montage of handmade 3D characters (leprechaun elf, fairies, and gnomes) using a needle felting technique and photography. This fusion creates a magical world that feels real yet something kids can relate to.
