Ex Detective Chief Inspector Steve Winwod was enjoying his retirement and had forgotten all about aliens, flying saucers and men in black. He was happiest when sketching and painting pubs before they were demolished and drinking with his friends in the Wednesday Club. Then he was enticed back into service with the position of Commander and asked to search for a missing person. The case had echoes of previous cases he had been asked to solve but never to his satisfaction and raised even more questions about who was working for who. He was drawn back to antiquarian bookseller John Cherry who normally could direct him to a solution. This was to be Steve's last case before John Cherry also retired. A case that turned his world upside down but answered all his question about aliens and their involvement in earth.
