Voice of the heart
An collection of poems
Publisher Description
It has been more than a decade since I wrote a poem. With the exception of the first poem, the pieces featured in this book were all written in a span of 25 years starting in 1986. These included my formative years, and perhaps the most creative years in writing. Other priorities in life became excuses for the slack in writing and I had given in submissively to other distractions such as music and web design. After a hiatus of about 10 years I went back to writing. In 1995 I hosted a fansite for a music group - The Carpenters and met their fans fro all over the world. I wrote a poem in memory of Karen Carpenter titled “Voice of the Heart” and a fan from Japan composed the melody to the lyrics and a fan from Nashville sang it. This was inspiring. At this juncture in my life I thought it might be meaningful to revisit what makes me me. Perhaps you will find some of these poems a little too superficial for the mature mind but they are true representations of the inner workings of a younger me. I have also included short commentaries (italicized) to some poems to give them the proper context for your interpretation. Using the inspiration from the song “Voice of the Heart”, I hope this collection offers the reader a short history of the voices in my heart without the usual boisterous narrative that my friends hear from me so frequently.
