Children will enjoy the appealing watercolor illustrations and real photos by the author who is a volunteer at Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW). They see a baby mockingbird rescued and the veterinarian examining it. They can relate to visiting grandparents and special times.  Learning about new things such as the importance of caring for wildlife and the importance of rescue work continues through Abby’s visit.  Abby initially is reluctant to make a three hour flight, develops a love of nature at her grandparents.  She sees her first eagles’ nest at the Dairy Queen.  Fascinated by the parents caring for the two eaglets, she asks how she can continue watching a web cam when she returns home to Michigan.  Fun at the beach and collecting shells at a world famous white sand beach follows next.  The experience at the Education Center for the rescue includes seeing on web cams wildlife being cared for and releases into the wild after recovery.  Animals pictured and identified include a bobcat, fawn, otter, gopher tortoise, loon, great horned owl, and osprey,   Links are provided to watch a live cam on an eagle’s nest where two eaglets are raised annually.  The one for the CROW rescue reveals updated information regarding programs to attend to see live wildlife ambassadors, rescues and releases plus stimulates ongoing learning opportunities for children.  A desire is stimulated to preserve and care for wildlife at a young age.  There is a page to personalize the book with a child’s photo.
