Diary of a Ten Pound Pom

Descripción editorial

It’s 1962 and the New Zealand government Ten Pound Assisted Passage scheme is under way.  It’s estimated that over a million British citizens, referred to as Ten Pound Poms, emigrated to Australia and New Zealand during the period 1945 to 1972.  Embarking on the SS Orion the diary of 24 year old Robert Hopper describes day to day life on board, the various ports of call and and the thrill of finally arriving in New Zealand.  This is an historic account of what became one of the great migrations of the 20th Century.
