Arthur William Ryder (8 March 1877 – 21 March 1938) was a professor of Sanskrit at the University of California, Berkele. He is well-known for his translations of Sanskrit works into English. His translations were noted for their high fidelity to the originals despite his practice of translating into lively and natural conversational language using rhyme and modern English idiom. The most famous works were “Panchatantra”, “Bhagovad Gita”, “The Little Clay Cart”, “Twenty-Two Goblins” and etc. 

“Fourteenth Goblin” is a fourteenth story from “Twenty-Two Goblins” translated and published by Arthur William Ryder in 1917. The Goblin would tell to the King the stories to amuse the journey.
