Guarneriana library

The Guarneriana Library of "San Daniele del Friuli" is one of the first institutions of public reading in Italy and the oldest library in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Founded by the humanist Guarnerio of Artegna (1410-1466) and further developed by Monsignor Giusto Fontanini (1666-1736), it still conserves illuminated masterpieces as the “Atlantic Bibles” of the eleventh century and the Inferno of Dante with the notes of his son Jacopo Alighieri (XV century) in the old section’s vaults.
