H.H. Munro, better known by the pen name Saki, was a prolific Scottish author of the Edwardian era.

In the village, where lives the main protagonist Van Cheele strange things happen - poultry had been missing from the farms, hares were growing unaccountably scarcer, and the miller's wife had lost a child some two months ago. Once Van Cheele went for one of his frequent rambles through his woodland property and found a wild-looking boy of about sixteen, who sunning near the lake. Talking with him Van Cheele discovered, that the wild-boy in front of him is a werewolf…
