Just A N****r

In 1865, Ole Bill Smithson returns to his plantation because it's his home. He reluctantly saves Mave, a former slave from another plantation, from rape, and then finds her determined to stay on at his place, since she has nowhere else to go. She is both smart and useful, and Bill finds that he is unable to rid himself of her. New horizons open that neither of them would have expected, and that neither can acknowledge.
