King's Cutters and Smugglers 1700-1855

In the period from the 18th to the 19th century the seamen from Britain smuggled valuable things from and to the Continent. These people were operating in gangs, traveling in heavily armed ships. They were cruel, rude people who were terrorising towns, custom houses and people. They were doing what they wanted. They invaded towns and killed people. Their biggest competitors were the King Cutters, their crew-backed patrols and the Royal Navy. They were chasing one another many times.

The author worked from old manuscripts and journals when writing this book, with intention to reconstruct the past events in details. The book tells the history of smuggling trade, including descriptions of incidents and details of the main characters on both sides.
