«Grace James (1864 – 1930) was an English writer, who is best known as the author of adventure stories for children. Grown up in Japan, Grace James was considered in her time and still remains nowadays as one of the most famous collectors and retellers of stories from the Japanese folk tradition. Her tales and short stories have been collected from many sources, among which are the “Book of Record of Ancient Matters”, the mythology of Japan and oral folk arts. 


Here's the collection of selected Japanese fairy tales from “Japanese Fairy Tales” written and published by Grace James in 1910. For example, “The Jelly-Fish Takes a Journey” is a tale, entered in the collection of Japanese Fairy Tales, published in 1910. Have you ever asked yourself why the jelly-fish looks like the jelly? This story narrates about it. In a deep sea beautiful jelly-fish lives. He has glittering scales and fins and a tail as other fishes have, but he has more than these. He has little feet as well so that he could walk on the land as well as swim in the sea. He is a good friend of the Dragon King and «of his trusted helpers.  But the young Lady Dragon is sick, and the King sends the Jelly-fish to the land to bring the cure.
