    In 1358 twin girls are born and one bares a red mark on her forehead. Before the queen awakens, the king orders a servant to destroy the baby believing that the infant is cursed.
Prince Garrick Gaston is betrothed to wed Alarice, the surviving twin. When the day arrives she has already lost her heart to a commoner and refuses to wed her betrothed and she and her lover flee
