The Causes and Consequences of Separatist Conflict in Sri Lanka

This textbook examines the nature and origin of the recent separatist conflict in Sri Lanka, involving hostilities between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (Tamil Tigers) and the Sri Lankan government. It provides an insight into the tragic consequences of the 26 year long civil war that was characterised by extreme violence and crimes against humanity.


The case study will support A Level Geography students following the AQA Geography Specification and studying the unit on 'Contemporary Conflicts and Challenges'. In addition, it will be of relevance to many others with an interest in regional or national conflicts from around the world.
