This walk is called the ‘Pooh Stick walk’ as it includes a lovely bridge over the Caerfanell river, which is a delight for any child and is perfect for playing pooh sticks. An easy stroll through the village and over fields with a short climb on to the Brinore Tramroad and then back on to the canal towpath into the heart of Talybont-on-Usk. Coal from Tredegar and limestone from the Trefil quarries would come down the horse-worked tramway to the canal for transportation. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is 200 years old and is now used for leisure activities such as walking, cycling and boating.
