Woods, Roos & Cougars

Woods, Roos & Cougars is a comprehensive history of the Churchill Football and Netball Club since its foundation as the Hazelwood Football Club in 1890. This is a rich story, full of characters and anecdotes, demonstrating how local sports clubs contribute to the identity and health of their community. The narrative accounts for every season in which the club has participated and also includes reports on the club’s netball teams since netball was brought into the club in the mid-1990s.

An important feature of Woods, Roos & Cougars is a series of profiles of people and families associated with the club, including a range of photographs of individuals and significant teams. The extensive appendices include a wealth of information on coaches, captains, goals scored, and awards for all representative teams.

The author, Gavin Wigginton is a member of the Cougar Coterie Club, and Woods, Roos & Cougars has been written at no cost to the club. All proceeds from sales of the book will go to the Churchill Football and Netball Club. Gavin’s previous books include, Wig’s Secret War and For Goodness Sake.
