Ten years after the Civil war, Gabriel Freeman, a former black slave, finds the life he has worked so hard to build about to be destroyed. A large family of hate-filled southerners moves into the Wyoming Territory close to where Gabriel and his family live. He must find a way to save his wife and eight-year old son from being burned alive in their home. Gabriel must also find a way to put out the fire of hate in his own heart.
U.S. Marshal Rand Trinity surprises his wife with a vacation trip to see friends and family in the Wyoming Territory where they first met. Upon their arrival in Cheyenne, Rand becomes embroiled in one situation after another, due to the attempted murder of the Freeman family. As a young U.S. Marshal, he fights to uphold the law.
