Descripción editorial
The play basically makes mockery of the rapid spread of Christianity across Africa. Wole Soyinka deals with the issue very intelligently and making it as interesting as it can be. There is a phony preacher who deceives common people and his followers.
There were several phony preachers in Africa in those days and they did not have churches of their own. They often preached at public places.
Brother Jero is also one such preacher, without a church of his own. The play exposes very illustriously the contradictions in following and blind faith.
