James Otis Kaler, known under pen name James Otis, was an American journalist and author of children’s literature, published over the 150 books for young readers. 

“Mary of Plymouth: A Story of the Pilgrim Settlement” is the short stories collection, first published in 1910. Narrated by a child, the stories are about the young girl Mary, who with her family are among the Mayflower’s small band of pilgrims that founded Plymouth.
