Until it wasn't.
Aboard the battered boat Second Chance, a small group of survivors threads the mangrove channels of the Florida Keys, chasing the last faint signals of civilization. Among them are a silent man with a crowbar and a past he cannot speak, a boy learning to kill with a spear, a mother protecting what remains of her family, and a couple who have already lost everything once.
The dead here are different.
Weeks in the salt have changed them — barnacle-encrusted, buoyant, and endlessly patient. They do not tire. They do not forget.
When a ruined fishing camp yields one last survivor and a warning that the world is still mutating, the group must decide whether to keep running… or finally try to hold ground.
In this drowned landscape, every harbour is temporary.
