Allan Walker is an ordinary inhabitant of a future world where the past can be experienced through remarkably lifelike holograms. But on one such journey, something happens that isn't supposed to happen.

What follows begins playfully, with an unlikely companion and increasingly curious departures from the possible. But the journey eventually opens onto a larger question: what if the world we accept as reality is only one version of what a world—and humanity—might have become?

The story follows Allan beyond the boundaries of ordinary reality, as an unexpected adventure gradually becomes an exploration of another possibility for human existence.
