When naturalist Maya Everton travels to Washington State, she finds herself surrounded by a wild pack of wolves—until another wolf arrives to run them off. Later, she spies Lieutenant Ryan Blaiddinger shifting and realizes he is her mysterious protector. Ryan is a member of the elite unit of shapeshifters known as Alpha Force, whose mission is at cross-purposes with hers. Maya is there to study the wolves’ reappearance, but the military has sent Ryan to discover whether any of the local wolves are shifters like him.
As news of the animal attacks spreads in their small community, the scientist and soldier unite to protect the area’s wolves from the locals who will stop at nothing to decimate the perceived threat.
