The Late Bloomer

The Bridges of Madison County meets Jojo Moyes: a moving, sensual love story about a woman whose family leaves home on the very day she begins to discover herself.

On the day that Kirsty’s grown children leave home her husband also walks out, uncertain as to when he will return. Alone for the first time in years, she stands at a crossroads in her life. Meanwhile, in Kirsty's tiny Scottish seaside village, there’s about to be a wedding. Every spare bed is taken up. When Luke, a handsome silver-haired zoologist finds no room at the inn, he must prevail upon Kirsty’s hospitality.  Hour by hour, on one hot midsummer’s evening, Kirsty rediscovers her own dreams and desires as the most surprising, heartrending love story unfolds.

This coming-of-middle age romance set in the glorious Scottish countryside, shows how a single, extraordinary connection can change everything. Full of passion, heart, and humor, this is a novel about one woman outgrowing the tight borders of her life, awakening to her own vitality, and stepping into full bloom.
