The Time Machine

The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds, The Island of Dr. Moreau... And, of course, we did nor forget The Time Machine - Herbert Wells's greatest literature invention! The writer is known as a pioneer of fantastic stories and concepts which are as popular today as they were in his days. Usually, in his works Wells underlines the most straining conflict - that of a strong human mind and feeble will which causes catastrophies in the end. 

 To Wells, peope are competitive and boisterous, with a keen mind, moreover they are able to invent unusual things like the invisibility potion, the time machine. Some geniuses go as far as vivsect animals to create people out of them. But after finishing their work, Wells's inventors often cannot control its results - invisibility leads the main hero to crime, Dr. Moreau is linched by his own creations, the world is conquered by alien robots...


The Time Machine tells us about the unnamed British Time Traveller who visits the antiutopic future and finds out that science had brought final destruction to our planet. People had evolved into two races  - graceful but feeble Eloi and ugly, but strong Morlocks who seek to invade the whole Earth. Through this opposition Wells shows the duality of human nature and mind. Consequently, being involved into the conflict the Traveller himself suffers from the result of his invention.


One of the most original works of the world fantastic literature is bound to inspire the reader ahain and again - the time travel is real and awaiting us!
