Twins, Sean and Elise Akers, bury a body for their dad, but only one knows the truth of what happened. And he’s not sharing.

This horror thriller, set in a small Mojave desert town, follows eighteen year old Elise, who’s loyalty gets her entangled in a murder case. As her family falls apart, she struggles to find the truth of what happened so she can set things straight. But the more she learns, the more she realizes she’s been lied to right from the start.

Secrets she wished she’d never unburied come to light in this transgressive coming-of-age novella.

She’d had her first beer at ten. A sip, but that totally counted.

Sex at sixteen, with an older boy from town, before he split for LA.

Developed and recovered from an addiction to cigarettes just six months ago.

And now, eighteen, buried her first dead body.

Elise Akers thought she was one badass, and figured everyone at school would have to agree, even leaving out that last development in her list of misdeeds. If she’d been a man, she’d probably run this town, she thought. A curse, genetics.

Now, three figures tore through the Mojave desert federal land on the back of a gurgling ATV.

Driver was Sean Akers, eighteen also and senior at Middleoak high school with a 3.8 GPA.

Elise, his twin sister, wrapped her arms tight around his narrow waist. Normally, Sean wouldn’t even accept hugs, but tonight was not the night to be squeamish, because there was a third person on the back of their ATV and that was the dead guy they were out here to bury.

He bounced behind Elise, horizontal and wrapped in a painters tarp tied together with some rope.
