' I knew that coming in here was risky but I didn’t think he’d actually wake up. Hell, I didn’t make one damn noise, so I don’t understand why he just shot up like I dropped something.


“You scared the shit out of me.” He rubs at his eyes and I pull my bolts back in, realizing that the glare is making it hard for him to see and is also probably why he woke up. “Is everything okay? Are you okay?”


“Has anyone else told you that you look less like an a*****e when you’re sleeping?”


His jaw practically hits the floor. “Five months, two weeks, and three days of torturous silence and that, that is what you have chosen to say to me?” '
