In the “witch city” of Salem, Massachusetts, retired librarian Ibby Russell and her friends are used to spooky sights—but when they stumble into a cauldron of crime, it’ll take more than a crystal ball to find the culprit . . .

Seeing a witch in broad daylight in Salem isn’t that unusual—it’s part of what the tourists come for. So when Ibby and her friends spot one sleeping in costume in front of a local museum, they think it’s just a busker on a break. Until they realize the witch isn’t dozing . . . but dead. And to their shock, they recognize her as Tammy, their mean-girl classmate from 40 years ago.

Ibby, Louisa, and Betsy have been dabbling in detection lately, and with their connection to the victim, this could be a perfect case for them. An episode of their favorite British mystery series, Midsomer Murders, provides a creative idea for catching the killer, with the (reluctant) assistance of Ibby’s gentleman friend. And her clairvoyant cat, O’Ryan, may even get familiar with some of the suspects . . .
