Biographical Sketch

It is not my purpose to write a biography. ‘A record of the life of Kristo Das Pal is the record of the political history of Bengal during the past twenty years.” That history I am not yet in la position to write. I seek, in the first place, to pay a tribute to a memory, and secondly, to read the lessons of a life, and, so far as it is in my power, to teach them. Every life has its lessons; and if the short and simple annals of the poor furnish material for study and reflection, the lives of successful men are even more fitted to instruct the mind and ennoble the heart.
